Chimney Liner

A chimney liner is referred to a metal flue pipe inside an existing brick chimney or a shaft.

When installing a commercial flue liner, in most cases a chain block is set up on top of the roof, which is used to raise the liner a few feet at a time. A welder connects peices below and signals to the team above to raise the pipe high enough to make room for the next piece and repeats. The pipe is always very heavy and in most cases rests on the floor, however in some cases, i-beams are installed to hold it up.

In 2008 a NY law came into effect that all brick chimneys which exhaust gas boilers, must be lined.
